ER 2018: 37th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, Oct 22-25, 2018
The International Conference on Conceptual Modeling has established itself as the premier research conference in conceptual modeling. The 37th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER 2018) provides a leading international forum for disseminating the latest research on conceptual modeling. It brings together academic and industrial scientists who conduct research in theories of concepts underlying conceptual modeling, methods and tools for developing and communicating conceptual models, techniques for transforming conceptual models into effective implementations, and the impact of conceptual modeling techniques on databases, business strategies and information systems development etc.
ER 2018 will be held in Xi’an, the capital city of Shaanxi province in China. Xi’an is situated in the central part of Weihe Plain, with the Weihe River flowing in the north and the Qinling rising in the south. It is a living history book, which has recorded great changes of the Chinese nation. It was an ancient capital city for 13 dynasties such as Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang. It is the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
Specific examples of topics of interest include, but are not limited to, conceptual modeling as applied to:
-Foundations and Concept Formalization
-Domain Specific Conceptual Modeling Languages, Methods and Frameworks
-Methodologies and Tools for Conceptual Design

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
Since the proceedings will be published by Springer in the LNCS series, authors must submit manuscripts using the LNCS style. See http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html for style files and details. The page limit for submitted papers (as well as for final, camera-ready papers) is 14. Manuscripts not submitted in the LNCS style or exceeding the page limit will not be reviewed and automatically rejected.
A paper submitted to ER 2018 may not be under review for any other conference or journal during the time it is being considered for ER 2018. Submitted papers must demonstrate to be aware of the state-of-the art literature in conceptual modeling by properly citing relevant papers in the field.
Submission to ER 2018 will be electronically managed via EasyChair. Authors are asked to submit an abstract first, and then to upload the full paper. The submission page of ER-2018 is http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=er2018.
Springer Verlag will sponsor two awards:
-Best Student Paper Award: to be given to the best paper whose first author is a student.
-Best Paper Award: to be given to the best paper, excluding papers authored or coauthored by PC members.
Some selected papers will be invited to submit their extended version of their papers to a DKE special issue.
